Small and fragile, I desire / Protection from external forces which batter / Winds seen and unseen, all of them felt / Chill seeps in my bones / Blood tinges with ice / Thoughts sludge to a crawl / Hibernation
As every bird seeks a nest / I seek as well / Deep downy cardigans, blankets and scarves / Velvet dreams of butter soft ensconscement into billows of ease / Shelter me from the harsh realities of this cold world / Sleep
Wearable comfort, layers of fur / with each extension of arms into this day’s attire / I embrace my role / survivor / supported / held near / could it be / these skeins interpret what I need / and what I am?
Within the freeze, the ground rests / nature speaks to cessation of fruitless effort / would that I could too / flow with nature / and emerge only with the daffodils / tranquil / blazing / and speak hope
